This classic chili recipe is a staple at our house. As soon as the temperatures start to drop, chili is on the menu!
Classic Chili Recipe
(This recipe makes a huge bowl of chili. Perfect for a crowd or if you want leftovers.)
Ingredients:
2 pounds of lean ground beef
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp pepper
2 tsp cumin
1/2 large onion diced
1/2 large bell pepper
32oz beef broth
6 cans kidney beans
2 cans fire roasted tomatoes
Sautee the onion and bell pepper in olive oil until tender. Add in the ground beef and seasoning and cook until cooked throughout. Add in the remaining ingredients and simmer for at least 30 mins.
Tips & Tidbits for cooking this Classic Chili recipe:
This recipe calls for ground beef, but you could easily replace it with ground turkey to reduce the fat.
Freeze 1/2 of the recipe for a future meal (this recipe makes a huge pot). I like to do this with any soup I make. It is great for those busy nights when I don’t have time to cook.
Top chili with cheese, sour cream or diced avocado.
Serve with a salad to get in some added vegetables.
