I have made many chocolate chip cookie recipes, homemade chocolate chip cookies, break apart cookies, the kind you just take out of the freezer and throw on a cookie sheet…I’ve made them all. And, I am here to tell you…
Trader Joe’s homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe is the best!
This recipe is adapted from the back of the Trader Joe’s chocolate chip bag.
Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
(Yields approximately 2 dozen cookies)
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups of all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup packed, brown sugar
1/2 c sugar
1 cup softened butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 package of Trader Joe’s semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda and set aside.
In a separate bowl combine brown sugar, sugar, softened butter and vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix until combined well.
Slowly add in dry ingredients and continue mixing until well combined.
Add in chocolate chips.
Spoon cookie batter onto a cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 mins.
Tips & Tidbits for cooking the best chocolate chip cookies:
Don’t try to quicken the time it takes to soften your butter by placing it in the microwave. The microwave almost always melts the butter. This will change the texture of your cookies. Instead set your butter out on the counter for a few hours ahead of time.
Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper to make clean up a breeze.
The larger the spoonful of batter the larger the cookie. The size of the cookie will also determine how long it will take to cook. This recipe calls for rounded teaspoons, but I typically go for a rounded tablespoon size.
This recipe will work for any chocolate chips. I am just partial to the Trader Joe’s brand.
Don’t leave these cookies sitting on the counter unsupervised. They will disappear quickly!
